Precor EFX 5.25 Elliptical Review

Precor EFX 5.25 Elliptical Trainer ReviewThe Precor EFX 5.25 elliptical trainer is designed for serious users, multiple users or individuals who want the best in home fitness equipment. For years Precor has received "Best Buy" ratings for their elliptical trainers.  They invented the concept of elliptical training, and have been one of the top dogs in the high-end market ever since.  The machines are popular in health clubs where machines are abused throughout the day.

In the past you had your choice of purchasing their inclined equipped models without the upper handle bars or you could buy a fixed ramp model with the upper body workout.  With the Precor EFX 5.25 you get the best of both worlds — their patented adjustable CrossRamp with upper handlebars for a combined upper and lower body workout.

Note: As of 9/1/10 the Precor EFX 5.25 Elliptical Trainer was selling for $2,599 with free shipping at Amazon.com.

Precor EFX  5.25 CrossRamp Technology

One of the problems with most elliptical trainers is the fixed elliptical motion.  Your lower body goes through the same repetitious stride.  Consequently, you workout limited muscles.  Precor resolved this problem through their patented CrossRamp Technology.  Basically, they added the ability to incline the elliptical motion, just like the incline on a treadmill.

Precor EFX 5.25 console The Precor EFX 5.25 elliptical trainer allows you to adjust the incline from 15 to 25 degrees.  In the process you isolate and work your glutes, quads, hamstrings and calves.   As you move the ramp up and down you can feel the strain on your different muscles, something that doesn't happen on a fixed ramp elliptical.

Other brands have been able to get around this patent by coming up with variations of this concept.  However, none compare in the design and the impact it can have on your workout.

In addition to the CrossRamp you get a variable stride length, from 18.5 to 20 inches, which offers even greater diversity to your workout.

Precor Quality

There is no getting around the fact that Precor Elliptical Trainers are expensive.  They charge a premium and get it.  Why?  Because the commercial models are some of the most durable machine out there, and their residential models are commercial grade for the home.  That is why they include a ten year parts warranty.

I constantly get testimonials from customers who bought budget ellipticals that have been nothing buy service nightmares. As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for" and with the Precor EFX 5.25 you are getting one tough machine.  This machine is ideal for serious performers and multiple users in the home.

Our Review - Precor EFX 5.25

It cracks me up when NordicTrack will use the term "commercial" in the name of some of their products selling for less than $1,000.  If you want commercial grade quality for the home, you will have to spend more to get it.  The Precor EFX 5.25 is one of the better commercial grade models for resisdential use. It is built like a tank so you can focus on attaining your personal best.

Customer Review

A home product that feels and looks like the one at the gym but is smaller, lighter and reasonably priced. I tried it at my local fitness store the other day and am going to buy one this week. I think it is even smoother than the one at my gym.Thank you Precor! Keep working on those gym quality machines that will fit in a smaller space at home!
