ProForm
Elliptical Trainer Reviews
ProForm
elliptical trainers are the #1 selling crosstrainer. They
offer some of the best value in the $500-$1,000 price range.
I recently toured
the ProForm plant and tested a number of the products at their headquarters in Logan,
Utah. I spent the day drilling the staff on their service, manufacturing and quality
control. After giving them the third degree, they were nice enough to take me
fly-fishing.
Note: You can purchase ProForm Elliptical Trainers Direct. They offer free shipping. Go to www.ProFormEllipticals.com to view models.
Further Note: Also check out the NordicTrack Ellipticals . They are built by the same company and have a wider selection and sometimes better prices.
In the past, ProForm had issues with their quality control and customer service. Both have improved immensely over the last several years.
Relative to their price and the competition, ProForm elliptical trainers hold up fairly well.
Where
there is some good value is in the $700-$1,000 price range. These machines sell
at a reasonable price, and are equipped with some decent features. Including a generous selection of installed programs.
Icon Fitness, the manufacturer of ProForm, has always
excelled in innovation, and they devote considerable resources to R&D. Here
is example:
ProForm CrossWalk 850 is a center drive elliptical, with the advantage of only being 47" in length. Is has an 18"-22" adjustable stride, which is excellent for accommodating users of different heights. It has 20 workout programs and iPod plug-in with speakers.
ProForm 1050E comes with a power ramp. This allows you to
change the incline of the elliptical motion, not unlike the
incline on a treadmill. Not only will this feature burn more
calories, it also works out different parts of your lower
body, including your buns. And we all want tight buns.
ProForm
Elliptical Trainers are Built for Moderate Use
One of the main
reasons ProForm equipment breaks down is because the wrong customers are buying
this equipment. No elliptical under $1,000 is really designed for multiple users,
or individuals who are going to use the machines extensively. I recently had a
customer contact me and want to know why their $900 elliptical would not
hold up to both her and her husband's daily two hour workouts. Duh!
Now you
may think that because ProForm suggests they use commercial grade parts and have
excessive weight limits this means their heavy-duty machines. They are not. If
you want a heavy-duty elliptical, buy a Precor or Life Fitness for over $3,000.
And if you are excessively heavy, don't think a light weight budget elliptical trainer is going to hold-up under the strain. I'm always leary of the suggested weight limits on these machines.
Fitness Source Review - ProForm Elliptical Trainers
ProForm elliptical trainers offer some of the best value for budget elliptical trainers. If you are buying a model in the $500 price range realize it has some limitations and is best suited for light usage and for moderate weight individuals.
However, I suggest you check out their models priced over $700. Also, check for models that are currently on sale, they offer the best value. You can read my individual reviews, where I try to keep current on their weekly change in prices and sales.
Finally, I recommend you purchase an extended warranty. Most ProForm ellipticals come with a 1 year parts and labor warranty, but you can extend it from 1-3 years. The prices are quite reasonable.
