Yowza Fitness Largo Elliptical Trainer Review
There is a problem with sub $1,000 priced elliptical trainers — they are often poorly built and unstable. I usually do not recommend ellipticals below that price point, with a few exceptions. Recently, I was at the headquarters of Yowza Fitness and saw their Largo elliptical trainer, priced at $799 with shipping. What impressed me was the fact that for a budget crosstrainer it appeared to be fairly stable and durable.
Yowza Fitness is a new name in the fitness industry, however, the manufacturer behind Yowza has been producing quality fitness equipment both in the U.S. and internationally for a number of years. The manufacturer decided to sell direct and cut out the middleman. Which allows them to produce and sell a decent budget elliptical for a very reasonable price.
Note: As of 9/1/10 it was selling for $799 with free shipping.

Yowza Fitness Largo Elliptical Features
Compact and Yet Stable — The Yowza Largo is only 51"L x 24"W. It doesn't take up a bunch of space like most elliptical trainers. Which is good for individuals with a limited area for exercise equipment. Considering the size it is relatively stable. The key word here is relative. In comparison to most ellipticals at $800 or less, the Largo tends to be more stable, but not as stable as larger and more expensive elliptical in the $1,000+ price range. The company puts the weight limit at over 300 lbs. That is excessive and I would place it at around 240 lbs.
18" Elliptical Stride — An 18" stride is by no means the longest stride in the industry. In fact it tends to be on the short side. However, not all elliptical strides are the same. And at this price range you often get a machine with more of an oval stride that feels bouncy. The Yowza Largo has a smooth elliptical stride that is more elongated than choppy. Note: at 18" the stride is best suited for individuals that do not exceed 5'10".
SureFit Pedals — The Yowza Largo has articulating foot pedals. That means the pedals angle with the elliptical stride in order to reduce stress on your ankles. However, most articulating pedals are fixed and consequently you will still have some lifting of your heal. The Largo has pivotal pedals that sit on bushings. This allows the pedals to better angle with the stride, further reducing stress to your joints.
Heart Rate Monitor in Handlebars — Most heart rate monitors are in stationary handlebars. You have to remove your hands from the moving handlebars to get a fix on your heart rate, which defeats the purchase of getting an accurate reading using the upper handlebars. The Yowza Fitness Largo elliptical trainer has the monitors built into the moveable handlebars allowing you to check your heart rate continually while exercising.
In addition, there are resistance touch sensors in the moving handlebars that allow you to adjust the resistance without having to break your stride.
Speakers and MP3 Input — Most fitness equipment has speakers and input for MP3 players. The sound on the Largo is better than average, but obviously not great. They designed the speakers to point ideally at your head.
Warranty — Most equipment at this price range comes with 1-year parts and labor warranty. The Largo offers an extended 3-year parts coverage, which says something about the quality of the components .
Our Review — Yowza Fitness Largo Elliptical Trainer
The Yowza Largo is potentially the best elliptical trainer at $800. However, it is important to realize that it qualifies as a budget machine. It is not suited for extremely overweight individuals, very tall people, multiple users or exercise fanatics. It is ideal for people with a limited budget that want a degree of quality at a value price. I would say the Largo is one of the top budget ellipticals on the market.
